Democracy drinks: Democracy in action!

Democracy drinks: Democracy in action! | Humanathon

#DemocracyDrinks are informal networking events for people who are interested in democracy.

January's Democracy Drinks aims to start a discussion about the desired society and the future of democracy in a changing world.  Things in many countries are not developing in a way that sustains democratic ideals and institutions.

Nobel laureates are also worried about this in this year's economics.

We are influenced and we do not fully control this, but how we respond to it is in our own hands.

We need a new story that we can all support. What do we want, where do we want to be? What is the appealing vision of a modern democratic society?

—————————————————————————————————-

We invite you to join in an exciting and inspiring digital 'bar' meeting in Zoom to deliberate on a meaningful society, using the new collective sensemaking platform of the Finnish startup Hunome.

Together, we will build a SparkMap that connects the thinking of people with diverse backgrounds and knowledge on this.

The map triggers and inspires ‘sparking on’, building new trains of thought and innovating new things.

You will also get to see how modern democracy technology works for collective sensemaking.

We promise that this will be a fun way to build together with others. It creates a thought fabric that will inspire others to join in the deliberation and journey.

We can invite more people and organizations who are concerned about the direction of democracy to add their perspectives.

We have created a 'What will good governance look like in 2040?'SparkMap, with a few stimulating/guiding questions, such as 'Democracy is under challenge... but why?', ‘Seeking the key trends around shifts in governance’, ‘Impact analysis on the downsides of bad governance’, and ‘How might we progress the good & mitigate the bad?’.

You can start adding your thoughts to the SparkMap in your own time even before meeting on Jan 15 where we will also be having an active discussion of the different perspectives on this thematic and how to go forward.

About Humanathon

Humanathon is a program that runs on the Hunome product. You can take leadership on a theme that needs multidimensional understanding and that you want to build for a concerted systematic attention with a group. The Hunome product is there to use and our team helps the leads set this up with materials.

You do not need to run a Humanathon to build multidimensional understanding on Hunome. You can also just start by clicking on ‘New SparkMap’ once inside Hunome and craft your own understanding and see others join.

About Hunome

Hunome is uniquely designed to build shared understanding with collective sensemaking. The SparkMap is a non-linear, evolving, multi-dimensional, map of understanding on the theme. SparkMaps are a great way to visualize the understanding that a group of people have on a particular theme.
