The Future of Work: making AI work for the many | Humanathon

The Future of Work | Humanathon

Clarote & AI4Media / Better Images of AI / Power/Profit / CC-BY 4.0

Will ChatGPT take my job? Perhaps you’ve been asking yourself this question. Most likely, you’ve come across worries about AI threatening to replace human work, leaving us without income, purpose or sense of meaning. Surely, this is a vision we should try to stay away from. But what is a vision we should be striving towards when it comes to the future of work?

Join us as we collectively practise our imagination and co-create a SparkMap exploring the following questions:

  1. Desirable alternatives: What would a positive, flourishing vision for the future of work look like? What would (meaningful) work and leisure entail in such a vision?

  2. Conditions: What kinds of personal/societal transformation and what sorts of individual/collective virtues would be needed to bring this vision to life? What would such a vision imply for our freedoms, rights, and communities?

  3. Role of AI: To what extent could AI work for the flourishing of the many, rather than the few? How could it facilitate or, conversely, hinder positive visions about the future of work? How could it enhance or deprive us of what makes us distinctly human?

Our session will build upon the inaugural Humanathon on the Future of Work, which, led by Prof. Nicky Dries, illustrated aspects, actors and motives missing from the public debate. This follow-up Humanathon is open to both returning and new participants.

More information on how to join this session will be available soon. For any questions, please drop an email to: anastasia [dot] siapka [at] kuleuven [dot] be

About Humanathon

Humanathon is a program that runs on the Hunome product. You can take leadership on a theme that needs multidimensional understanding and that you want to build for a concerted systematic attention with a group. The Hunome product is there to use and our team helps the leads set this up with materials.

You do not need to run a Humanathon to build multidimensional understanding on Hunome. You can also just start by clicking on ‘New SparkMap’ once inside Hunome and craft your own understanding and see others join.

About Hunome
Hunome is uniquely designed to build shared understanding with collective sensemaking. The SparkMap is a non-linear, evolving, multi-dimensional, map of understanding on the theme. SparkMaps are a great way to visualize the understanding that a group of people have on a particular theme.
